Protesters attacked in Maldives
Riot police in the Maldives have used tear gas and batons against protesters rallying in support of former president Mohamed Nasheed. Nasheed told Al Jazeera on Wednesday that he had been forced to resign in what he described as a “coup” to avoid “bloodshed” in the country. Al Jazeera’s Steve Chao reports from the capital Male.
